The Kentucky State Senate recognizes and distinguishes Brough Brothers Distillery as the First African-American owned distillery in Kentucky's 228 year old history. The distillery was founded by Victor, Bryson, and Christian Yarbrough, three brothers born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky. They wanted to produce quality bourbon whiskey in an industry that has thus far remained largely inaccessible to minority entrepreneurs. They are committed to supporting other local businesses in an effort to revitalize the West End neighborhood in which Brough Brothers is based. Their distillery will provide job opportunities and economic growth for the community of Park Hill, a historically underserved area of Louisville's West End. "Brough Brothers has an opportunity to not only provide employment opportunities for our local community, but also design an experience for locals and tourists in the heart of one of Kentucky's cultural hubs," Brough Brothers CEO Victor Yarbrough said. "At a time in history when there is much attention on Louisville, we are excited to represent positive change and hope for and on behalf of our city." First approved by the distillery-governing body the Federal Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau in August 2018, Brough Brothers Distillery was recognized by Kentucky's Senate as the state's first African American-owned distillery in August 2020. Approved by the Kentucky Alcoholic Beverage Control Board in September, it will continue to make history as it distills and barrels its first barrel of bourbon this winter. Its bourbon shop will be open for business to bourbon enthusiasts by appointment only in spring 2021. But customers don't have to wait to enjoy Brough Brothers: its bourbon brand is available on store shelves now and online. Brough Brothers Bourbon has received glowing customer reviews for being one of the smoothest bourbons on the market. With major and independent retailers selling it in Kentucky, national retailers (Kroger, Total Wine and More, Trader Joes, Walmart) and distributors (RNDC, JB, BBI, SWGS) alike have taken notice of its explosive popularity. Brough Brothers currently has major distribution partnerships in five states, including KY, FL, TN, IN, and CO. It will expand its distribution to another 20 states in early 2021. Lamprey, who serves as a CBMAS judge was voted in by fellow industry peers. "I had a professor in college tell me that drinking beer wouldn't advance my career. He was wrong!" Zane laughed, "I couldn't be more honored to be the first Craft Beer Marketing Awards Man of the Year. I'd say I'm speechless, but as a comedian I'm not capable of that." Zane first introduced audiences to the world of beer as host of the award-winning TV series Three Sheets on Travel Channel (and Hulu). He followed that up with Drinking Made Easy on Mark Cuban's HDNet, a show about all thing's alcohol, including production, consumption and celebration. He went on to host Chug on National Geographic Channel (and Netflix) and Four Sheets for DrinkTV. In 2020, Zane's 71-city comedy tour, scheduled at breweries across the USA was sidelined due to COVID, and is planned to resume once quarantine is over. "For over a decade, the name Zane Lamprey has been synonymous with beer," said CBMAS co-founder, Jim McCune. "I first saw Zane on the TV show Three Sheets, where he introduced us to libations from all over the world. He did so with a genuine appreciation for the locals and a hilarious sense of humor that kept us entertained. This was inspiring to me, and a big part of why I'm in the beer industry today." The CBMAS recognize 34 beer–marketing categories celebrating the best of craft beverages. Presenting sponsor, Hillebrand supports CBMAS mission to honor the individuals and teams who promote beer industry growth through their innovative and creative marketing, branding, fine arts, and design. Concept Combines Retail, Bar, and Private Dining PORTLAND, Ore., Jan. 15, 2020 /HalcyonTV/ -- Pullman Wine Bar & Merchant by David Machado Restaurants brings a new concept to Portland's Lloyd District. Located in the southwest corner of the boutique Hotel Eastlund, also designed by Holst, Pullman occupies a formerly empty retail space facing the Convention Center. To accommodate a range of functions—retail shop, tasting bar serving small plates and wine by the glass, private dining room, and prep kitchen—the design reclaims further square footage from the hotel parking garage. The sequence of spaces progresses from public to private and creates a range of experiences in less than two thousand square feet.
The wine shop sells bottles as well as ships by the case nationally, while the bar focuses on select wines from the Pacific Northwest. The wine inventory is developed and maintained by award-winning wine consultant, David Holstrom. Custom mahogany millwork, raw steel, slate tile, and polished concrete bring a modern aesthetic to the feeling of a rustic wine cellar. The materials were chosen for their ability to wear well and develop a patina over time. Open storage for cases and bottles, along with a state of the art, self-service, commercial cruvinet system, enable patrons to peruse and explore Pullman's wine offerings on their own. Locally manufactured custom tables, an intimate bar, and the private dining room welcome a range of groups of locals and visitors. The private dining room seats twenty-four guest in a wine cave-like room that channels a European, old-world aesthetic with vaulted ceilings and a dark, moody color palette. The slope of the sidewalk outside enhances the feeling of descending into an underground wine cave. Pullman's novel concept and thoughtful design have combined to create a new attraction in the burgeoning Convention Center neighborhood.
