ALL BLUES OUT JUNE 7 ON UMe PETER FRAMPTON FINALE--THE FAREWELL TOUR KICKS OFF NEXT MONTH LOS ANGELES, May 31, 2019 /HalcyonTV/ -- "Georgia On My Mind," the latest song off Peter Frampton Band's forthcoming album All Blues, is premiering today. Of the song, which was written by Hoagy Carmichael, Frampton explains, "It's the standard. I've heard Ray Charles kill it, I've heard Steve Winwood kill it and I would never attempt to sing this song. There's just too many great versions by so many great singers. I decided we would do this song as an instrumental. It's turned out to be a highlight on this record and just shows the versatility of the band."
"Georgia On My Mind" is available now with digital album pre-order. Listen/share the track HERE. All Blues, out June 7 on UMe, is a collection of Frampton's favorite blues classics and was recorded with his longtime touring band, made up of Adam Lester (guitar/vocals), Rob Arthur (keyboards/guitar/vocals) and Dan Wojciechowski(drums). The album was recorded at Frampton's studio in Nashville, Studio Phenix, and was co-produced by Frampton and Chuck Ainlay. The album features collaborations with Kim Wilson, Larry Carlton, Sonny Landreth and Steve Morse. The vinyl will be available as a double LP and also as a limited edition translucent blue color pressing on August 16exclusively at PeterFrampton.com. The double LP will include the bonus track "I Feel So Good (written by Big Bill Broonzy, opb Muddy Waters). Of the album, Frampton explains, "I have always loved to play the blues. When we formed Humble Pie, the first material we played together was just that. For the last two summers I had been playing a handful of blues numbers every night on stage with Steve Miller Band. I enjoyed this immensely and it gave me the idea of doing an 'All Blues' album live in the studio with my band. We started the resulting sessions 9 days after coming off the road last year. Over a two-week period, we recorded 23 tracks, all live in the studio. The energy of these tracks is completely different from building a track one instrument at a time. With this recording, we pay tribute to all the original artists who invented this incredible music. I hope you can hear and feel our enjoyment. I'm not sure if you can say we had fun playing the blues. But we definitely did." Soon after the album's release, Frampton will kick off Peter Frampton Finale--The Farewell Tour presented by SiriusXM—an approximately 50-date run this summer and fall produced by Live Nation. Frampton will retire from regular vigorous touring at the end of this year due to his diagnosis of the autoimmune disease Inclusion Body Myositis (IBM). IBM is a progressive muscle disorder characterized by muscle inflammation, weakness and atrophy. Frampton recently discussed his diagnosis with CBS "This Morning: Saturday," watch the segment HERE. The tour will feature special guest Jason Bonham's Led Zeppelin Evening, as well as Julian Frampton on the west coast stops. Tickets are on sale now and VIP packages will also be available at www.frampton.com. $1 of every ticket sold, as well as any donations, will benefit The Peter Frampton Myositis Research Fund at Johns Hopkins, a newly established fund by Frampton and Johns Hopkins, where he's being treated. Peter Frampton remains one of the most lauded artists in rock history. The Music Business Association just presented him with the Chairman's Award for Sustained Creative Achievement at the Awards & Hall of Fame Dinner that is part of the Association's annual conference—Music Biz 2019. Frampton was also recently honored with the Les Paul Innovation Award at the 2019 NAMM Show's 34th annual TEC Awards, and celebrated the 43rd anniversary of his fifth solo album, Frampton Comes Alive!, one of the top-selling live records of all time (over 17 million copies sold worldwide). The set will be exclusively available at LEGO Stores and shop.LEGO.com beginning June 1. Additionally, the company unveiled seven new LEGO CITY Mars Exploration sets inspired by NASA's recently announced ambitions around the next frontier – to return to the Moon and ultimately send astronauts to Mars. LEGO Group will also host hands-on space-themed activations and programming around the world beginning in June.
"We have a deep understanding of the ways in which play can have lifelong impact, and we have been champions of the awe and wonder of space exploration through playful building for almost as long as the world's celebration of the first moon landing," said Michael McNally, senior director, brand relations, LEGO Systems, Inc. "There are countless stories of engineers, scientists, astronauts, and roboticists who point to their experiences with LEGO building as the reason they are engaged in their current careers. We hope that our ongoing commitment to space-themed play materials will inspire future generations to help us continue exploring." It's a perfect time to build upon today's children's' curiosity about space, according to a recent survey conducted by The Harris Poll on behalf of LEGO Group among parents regarding children's' interest in space exploration 1. Among U.S. parents with a child ages five to 12, 75% say they have a child interested in space exploration. Seventy-nine percent of parents in the UK say they have a child interested in space exploration, and 93% of parents in China agree. Historic Moment Commemorated in Exclusive LEGO Replica Model The collectible LEGO CREATOR Expert NASA Apollo 11 Lunar Lander model is rich with details true to the Eagle lunar lander, including separate ascent and descent stages. The descent stage features gold-colored landing pads and panels, opening camera and laser hatches and a ladder, while the ascent stage has a detailed interior. Builders can recreate the first steps on the moon with two astronaut minifigures featuring NASA decoration and golden helmets, plus a depiction of the lunar surface, complete with crater, moon footprints and a United States flag. A celebration of human accomplishment, the building set includes an Apollo 11 Lunar Lander nameplate for display purposes. The set will be available for $99.99 (USD)/$139.99 (CAD). LEGO CITY Mars Exploration Sets Depict NASA's Future Ambition In addition to celebrating the history of space exploration, the LEGO Group aims to playfully engage the space explorers of tomorrow with seven new LEGO CITY Mars Exploration building sets inspired by NASA's future missions to explore the Moon and Mars. To ensure that the sets reflect many technical details of the rockets, rovers and equipment that NASA may someday use to send humans to Mars, LEGO designers met frequently with the space agency during development. During visits to Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas and Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida, designers adjusted product design to more closely mirror real-world counterparts. For example, learning about the importance of protecting against contamination to increase mission success prompted designers to add face masks for the engineer minifigures. The team also redesigned white LEGO rockets to a burnt orange color based on the actual materials NASA intends to use; in the past, rockets may have been left white for aesthetic reasons, but the extra coat of paint adds weight. The collection will be available globally on June 1 and in North America beginning June 23, including:
LEGO Stores around the world are planning activities to engage families in creative play designed to inspire their awareness and interest in space exploration. In North America, LEGO Stores will host Build & Play spaceship games from June 3-30. From July 1-30, LEGO Stores in North America will host weekly Build & Display prompts related to Mars exploration. In London, Berlin and Paris, larger scale events are planned July 23-26. Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge Unveiled to the World in Epic Grand Opening Ceremony at Disneyland Park5/30/2019 Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger joined by George Lucas, Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Billy Dee Williams to mark historic moment for The Walt Disney Company ANAHEIM, Calif., May 30, 2019 /HalcyonTV/ -- The Walt Disney Company celebrated the momentous dedication of Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge tonight in an epic ceremony at Disneyland Park. Disney chairman and CEO Bob Iger unveiled the largest and most technologically advanced single-themed land expansion ever in a Disney park, which is set to open to the general public at Disneyland Park on May 31, and also at Disney's Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida on Aug. 29.
"Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge is absolutely amazing and we are thrilled to finally share it with the world," said Bob Iger, chairman and CEO of The Walt Disney Company. "Now, for the first time, fans will be able to immerse themselves in the iconic stories that have captured audiences' imaginations for decades and live their own Star Wars adventures in the most creative, innovative and ambitious land we've ever built." To dedicate Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, Iger was joined in front of the Millennium Falcon by Star Wars icons including George Lucas, Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Billy Dee Williams. In a ceremony set to the soaring John Williams score composed especially for the land, global media and invited guests were the very first to see the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy roar to life. "With Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, Disney is redefining the theme park experience and setting a new bar for experiential storytelling," said Bob Chapek, chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products. "From each authentic detail to the land's jaw-dropping scale, Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge exceeds every expectation." When it opens to the public at Disneyland Resort on May 31 and at Walt Disney World Resort on Aug. 29, guests will be transported to the remote planet of Batuu*, full of unique sights, sounds, smells and tastes. Guests can become part of the story as they sample galactic food and beverages, explore an intriguing collection of merchant shops and take the controls of the most famous ship in the galaxy aboard Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run. Phase two, opening later this year, will feature Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, the most ambitious, immersive and advanced attraction ever imagined, which will place guests in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance and will blur the lines between fantasy and reality. In light of tremendous demand, Disney made the decision to open the land in phases to allow guests to sooner enjoy the one-of-a-kind experiences that make Star Wars:Galaxy's Edge so spectacular. Once guests step foot on Batuu, they will be part of the action as it unfolds around them, and their interactions with the Play Disney Parks mobile app** will deepen their engagement with the land – the first land within a Disney park designed to integrate with the app. They may choose to aid a smuggler, join the Resistance or pledge their loyalty to the First Order. This depth of storytelling is part of the total immersion that will distinguish the two, 14-acre lands from any other themed land in history. The new lands build off decades of collaboration between Walt Disney Imagineering and Lucasfilm Ltd., a global leader in film, television and digital entertainment production, including the Star Wars franchise. The work on Star Wars between these two creative powerhouses dates back to 1987, when the groundbreaking Star Tours attraction opened at Disneyland Park in California. Reservations are required to enter Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge at Disneyland Park between May 31 and June 23.*** Guests visiting during this time will need valid theme park admission and a reservation to enter the new land. After June 23, reservations will no longer be required to visit Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. * Admission into Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge will be subject to capacity, and joining the virtual queue will not guarantee entrance to the land. Visit Disneyland.com for more information. ** Message, data and roaming rates may apply. Availability subject to handset limitations and device settings and features may vary by handset, service provider or otherwise. Coverage and app stores not available everywhere. If you're under 18, get your parents' permission first. Some features require separate theme park admission. Some experiences require in-app purchases. ***Reservations required to visit Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge from May 31 to June 23 at Disneyland Park in California. At this time, general reservations are no longer available, but reservations are still available for guests staying at a Disneyland Resort hotel between May 31 and June 23. Guests staying at one of the three Disneyland Resort hotels during this time will receive a designated reservation to visit Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge during their stay (one reservation per registered guest; valid theme park admission required). Guests may book a stay at Disneyland.com/Hotels or call (714) 520-5060. If the hotel reservation is cancelled, the Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge reservation will be cancelled. After June 23, 2019, theme parks, Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge and its experiences are subject to capacity. FOLSOM, Calif., May 29, 2019 /HalcyonTV/ -- A new research study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that participants with metabolic syndrome who consumed the equivalent of one cup of fresh blueberries, given as 26g of freeze-dried blueberries, showed clinically relevant changes in measures of heart health. The study, "Blueberries improve biomarkers of cardiometabolic function in participants with metabolic syndrome – results from a 6-month, double blind, randomized controlled trial," was conducted at the University of East Anglia in the United Kingdom in collaboration with Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and other UK institutions.
The study found that intake of the equivalent of one US cup per day of blueberries (given as 26g freeze-dried blueberries) resulted in clinically significant improvements in heart health measures, particularly markers of vascular function (blood flow and elasticity of the blood vessels by measuring endothelial function and arterial stiffness). Improved endothelial function and reduced arterial stiffness are associated with a reduced risk of cardiovascular events such as heart attack and stroke.i Importantly, the observed increases in nitric oxide bioactivity in the blood provided a potential mechanism for the endothelial function benefits observed. Intake of one cup of blueberries per day also resulted in significantly increased HDL-C levels, also known as "good cholesterol," compared to the placebo. Additional lipid biomarkers researched in the study support these findings, such as significant increases in HDL particle number and APO-A1 levels, which are other predictors of heart disease risk. Insulin resistance, pulse wave velocity, blood pressure, and other lipid levels (including total cholesterol) were unaffected by any of the interventions. There were also no observed clinical benefits from the intake of one-half cup of blueberries in this at-risk participant group. Over a six-month period, 115 participants (78 men and 37 women) between the ages of 50 and 75 with metabolic syndrome, were randomly assigned to receive one of three daily treatments: 26g freeze-dried blueberries (the equivalent of one US cup/d); 13g freeze-dried blueberries (the equivalent of one-half US cup/d); or a placebo powder matched for color, taste and consistency. All study subjects were instructed to limit intake of other anthocyanin (the main natural flavonoid constituent present in blueberries) containing foods to one portion per week and other foods known to modify vascular function. Participants also refrained from blueberry intake beyond the assigned daily treatments. Metabolic syndrome is a group of risk factors which includes low levels of HDL-C, or "good cholesterol," high blood pressure, increased abdominal obesity, high triglyceride levels, high blood pressure and high fasting glucose levels that raises risk for heart disease and other health problems, such as type 2 diabetes and stroke.ii It represents a health challenge that impacts more than one-third of the U.S. population. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the percentage of Americans living with metabolic syndrome substantially increased from 25 percent between 1999 and 2006 to 34.2 percent between 2007-2012.iii "The results of this study provide the first evidence from a long-term study examining the impact of blueberry intake on clinically relevant measures of cardiometabolic health," said Aedin Cassidy, Ph.D., Head of Nutrition & Preventive Medicine Department and Chair of Nutritional Biochemistry at Norwich Medical School, University of East Anglia and the study's lead investigator. "While the conclusions drawn are from a single study that cannot be generalized to all populations, the data add weight to the evidence that a dietary intervention with a realistic serving of blueberries may be an effective strategy to decrease important risk factors for heart disease." The research was funded by the U.S. Highbush Blueberry Council (USHBC). The USHBC had no role in study design, data collection, data analysis, data interpretation, or writing of the study.
